Making a test call

Before your appointment, please take the time to make a test call any weekday between 8am and 5 pm CT.

How to make a test call

System Requirements

Operating system

Microsoft® Windows 7 or later; Apple® OS 10.7 or later

Internet connection

Minimum 100 kbps (100 kpbs is the minimum package from vendors such as CenturyLink, Spectrum, Comcast, and DISH)

Equipment needed

Webcam, either integrated (built in) or plug-in (USB cable). Either speakers and a microphone or an audio headset with microphone


Making a test call

Open the program

Open Mayo VirtualVisit.

Enter the host name

Enter your user name

Use your primary email address on file at Mayo Clinic.

Set your password

  1. When logging in for the first time you need to reset your password. Click on the Create or Reset Password at the bottom of the screen.
  2. In the Forget Password section, enter your user name and click Reset Password. You will receive an email from with a temporary password. You may use this password or go to Create or Reset Password to change it.

Select Make an Appointment

A patient support specialist will answer your call and help test audio and video settings.
